Christmas DVDs: Michael Duffy

Like many people I have come to enjoy boxed sets of the more thoughtful American cable television series.

Some crime favourites are The Shield (serious moral ambiguity within the LAPD), In Plain Sight (the witness protection program in Albuquerque), and Sons of Anarchy (Hamlet set in a Californian motorcycle gang).  

These shows aren’t new but they’re not well known here. The writing and acting is generally superb.
