Poetry

Sabotage

Philippa Martyr

I looked down at my palm and saw the stone:

An amber bolus born of afternoon

I threw it arching up, high and over,

Until it struck the sky

And giant cracks dived down to the horizon

Leaving enormous splinters of day free-standing

Around the edge of the world.
