Walking Along Stansbury Foreshore

I walk up hills into rich foliage

ripe with the song of birds.

 

Their flight so delicate

and weightless, signatures

 

of the blessed heart,

seemingly immune to gravity.

 

I hear one over the rise

and climb expectantly

 

finding only a gently swinging

metronome of silent leaves.
