Poetry

The Burning Fiery Furnace

John Whitworth

It isn’t what you know, it’s who you know.
If who you know says go you gotta go.

You gotta go, you gotta get a life.
You gotta get a wife, you gotta grow.

You gotta get a life and get a wife
And get a lotta kids and be a pro.

The winds out there will cut you like a knife,
They’ll cut you to the bone. I told you so.

I told you so. Philosophies are rife
And going spare. It only goes to show.

It goes to show you gotta get a life.
The world is wide and what it is. Just so.

But everywhere you look it’s bloody strife.
Hey ho, the winds do blow. You gotta go.

The Jack of Diamonds and the Thane of Fife,
Shadrach and Meshach and Abednego.

Shadrach and Meshach and Abednego.
You gotta be a pro. Just so. Just so.
