Giant Bamboo

Giant Bamboo

Wind Catcher

 

Its leaves are catching

the wind, this giant bamboo culm,

but in ancient times

it would have caught it differently,

fixed to mast and sail as a boom.

New Voice

 

Since being sawn

to shorter lengths and strung up,

the giant bamboo

speaks not in lofty rustlings

but in low chimes and chunkings.
