                                  A                                                                          A

                              mantis                                                                 descant

                             stretching                                                            for water

                            prays for us                                                        and for wind

                          lithe legs plié                                                      colour weaving

                       dance into dawn                                                cars back and forth

                     forks tune the bridge                                           pylons rise, puncture

                        this perfect pitch        pluck pure melody           crowded city sky

                          taut, rapunzel                                                     bronze soldier

                            ropes string                                                           at sunrise

                              heaven’s                                                              bows his

                                  harp                                                                   head
