Me; Each Lily

Me

“In this mortal frame

of mine … there is something …”*

Yes, it’s me … and I

feel this me always yearning

for something that is not me.

Each Lily

Each arum lily

beside the dam’s amphitheatre

is holding aloft

(as at carols by candlelight)

a yellow flame in a white cup.
