astounded souls

when her daughters  

weeping

tell beads by the bed

and her sons  

choked with tears

lay pennies on her eyes

the time has come

for the last journey

 

deaf now to sounds

of grieving in the room

deaf to future discord

over her possessions

she is wrapped in painlessness

dazzled by clear light
